Subject: Support the Expansion at HVN

Dear Mayor Elicker and Mayor Carfora,
As residents of New Haven and East Haven, we are writing to express our strong support for the expansion of Tweed-New Haven Airport. The public overwhelmingly wants more convenient travel options, and the ability to reach new destinations without long trips to out-of-state airports is one of the top reasons people support this project. For many of us, Tweed has already become a valuable part of daily life, and continued investment will allow families, workers, and
students to stay better connected.
This expansion is also a pathway to more local jobs and greater long-term economic
opportunity. Residents consistently identify job creation as a major factor in their support for Tweed, and the growth of the airport will help strengthen employment in hospitality, retail, transportation, public safety, and facility operations. These are jobs that benefit both cities and support households across a wide range of backgrounds and skill levels.
The proposed investment of more than two hundred fifty million dollars will also bring real community improvements. The expansion includes modern, quieter aircraft, new sound mitigation measures, and significant traffic upgrades. Many of us share concerns about noise and congestion, and this project is the only plan on the table that actively addresses those issues. Choosing not to invest will leave both cities with the status quo, which does not improve neighborhood conditions or prepare us for the future.
Residents believe that New Haven and East Haven should move forward with a plan that improves quality of life, expands travel choices, and creates a stronger local economy. With thoughtful planning and cooperation, Tweed can continue to grow in a way that benefits families, strengthens neighborhoods, and positions both communities for long-term success. We hope you will consider the clear support from the public and continue advancing this important project.
