Significant steps have already been taken to move this project forward responsibly. Key infrastructure upgrades are underway in coordination with partners like United Illuminating to modernize electrical capacity and support future growth. Planning has advanced through environmental review processes, technical studies, and ongoing community engagement to ensure the project reflects local input and meets state standards. These early investments demonstrate a clear commitment to strengthening infrastructure while prioritizing safety, sustainability, and long-term regional benefit.

LEED CONSTRUCTION

Moving the current terminal and building a new one provides an opportunity to use the latest construction technology and meet LEED construction standards for energy conservation.

CARBON NEUTRAL TERMINAL

Utilizing these new construction techniques will allow for a new terminal that is completely carbon neutral, providing high efficiency climate control systems, renewable energy sources, and reengineered waste and recycling programs as the airport seeks to develop a comprehensive and holistic approach to sustainability.

ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT IMPACTS

HVN will undertake an environmental assessment process that will outline the environmental impact of the expansion, taking into account inter-related socio-economic, cultural, and human health impacts. This report will provide a clear road map to help us develop mitigation techniques that protect the surrounding environment and the quality of life for residents living near HVN.

Environmental Assessment Update

The Federal Aviation Administration has found that HVN's expansion plans will cause no significant environmental impacts, and can therefore proceed.
